GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will provide leadership, coaching and training and oversight for all Safety and Health activities and programs at the Goldstrike Mine Site. These activities include providing direction, quality assurance, timely completion and active participation in audits, inspections, incident investigations and employee interactions; providing support and guidance to operating division personnel and safety initiatives. Must also be able to provide support and guidance of Safety and Health tactical and strategic plans, be able to analyze challenges, provide solution in conjunction with and through senior line management personnel. Must have the ability to lead the implementation and completion of multiple tasks and elements. Must be able to lead in the coordination and resolution of incident investigations, audit findings, action plans, and regulatory citation investigation and mitigation. Candidate must be able to provide at least 30 per cent Visible Felt Leadership/Field time throughout the division/site. Will be required to provide on-call coverage as needed. Other duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field or equivalent demonstrated years of experience in senior roles in mining field required
  • Six (6) or more years of Safety and Health in the mining field preferred
  • Four (4) or more years of supervising Safety and Health professionals (or six (6) years of supervisory experience in the mining field) required
  • Previous training experience preferred and MSHA instructor experience a plus
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience in industrial hygiene and MSHA regulations preferred
  • Ability to speak in front of varied, dynamic groups of people required
  • Good communication and computer skills and demonstrated ability to problem-solve required
  • Ability to work with and communicate well with all levels of management as well as federal agencies required
  • Ability to read, interpret, craft, and convey policies and procedures required
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, demanding work environment required
  • Professional Safety and Health Certifications (CSP, CSMP, etc) preferred
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position required
