This individual is responsible for the administration of SharePoint 2010 server farm. Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/ configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and the related infrastructure. Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. Assist project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research and development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing, and rolling out the solutions.

Essential Job Duties

Ensure the integrity of the SharePoint environment including implementing application service packs, cumulative updates, upgrades and migrations and performance tuning

Provide day-to-day engineering support to customers

Review and architect infrastructure, develop best practices and operation guidelines

Maintain system, application, security and SharePoint, IIS logs

Maintain registry settings and environmental settings.

Manage Windows cluster services and Network Load Balancing

Responsible for Backing up and restoring the SharePoint environment and content databases.

Responsible for setting up and configuring Fast for SharePoint

Responsible for SQL Maintenance, Security and Performance Tuning

Manage SQL Cluster Services

Additional Job Duties

o Manage a multi-tier application delivery environment.

o Proactive monitoring of server systems.

o Disaster Recovery management and testing.

o Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and resources that standardize the functioning of the infrastructure.

o Develop information security requirements, guidance, and standards.

o Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, and application software problems.

o Provide escalation support to other system administrators.

o On-call rotation as needed.


Thorough understanding and experience with SharePoint building blocks such as site collections, sites, web applications, lists, views, libraries and the SharePoint security model.

Experience with SharePoint backup and restore techniques.

Experience installing, configuring and supporting custom SharePoint solutions and web parts.

Familiarity with the use of SharePoint Designer to customize web sites.

Good knowledge foundation of Microsoft Active Directory and SQL Server.

Proficiency in Microsoft Networking Technology (DNS and TCP/IP Protocol etc.)

Must be self-directed and have a proactive approach to resolving support issues and working with limited on-site supervision.

Bachelor's Degree in a Technical discipline

Must have at least five (5) years of experience providing system engineering tasks.

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance, must be clearable to TS

Work Environment/Travel

Government site in Crystal City, VA and corporate site in Tyson's Corner.
