YOU MUST POSSESS A VALID NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION’S RIFLE & PISTOL CERTIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENT CERTIFICATIONS NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 29, 2012.
Oversees & coordinates the operation of the Deer Creek Wildlife Area rifle, handgun & shotgun ranges (e.g., opens & closes range, registers & observes shooters, monitors shooting in progress, assists handicapped shooters, & enforces range safety rules); prepares & maintains reports (e.g., Range Usage & Permit Distribution & TARS); documents range rules violations & firearms safety incidents; distributes information & answers questions from the public by phone, in writing &/or in person; contacts Wildlife Officers & provides information necessary for issuing citations for non-compliance of shooting range rules & wildlife area regulations; testifies in court. Performs general maintenance & repairs & maintains shooting & archery ranges, & other wildlife area & public use facilities (e.g., repairs benches & back stops, mows & seeds grass, removes snow & ice, picks-up trash, posts signs, paints, orders supplies, applies herbicides, performs general equipment & vehicle maintenance).
National Rifle Association rifle & pistol certification; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of grass mowers & hedge trimmers.

Skilled in: 29) equipment operations (firearms, vehicles, tractor, mowers, trimmers, hand/power tools & chain saw). Ability to: 30b) recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate action; 30f) deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context; 30l) define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; 31c) comprehend & record figures accurately; 31d) add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers); 32i) comprehend simple sentences with common vocabulary; 32k) complete routine forms; 32l) maintain accurate records; 34c) cooperate with co-workers on group projects; 34d) answer routine telephone inquires from public.
