Shore Network Engineer (Job Number: 318932)
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Shore Network Engineer will be a key member of the Fleet Systems Engineering Team (FSET), responsible for providing the overall network engineering support for a broad range of programs at the MHQ-MOC, NCTAMS, NCTS and NOC’s.
Supports the full system engineering lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and implementation. Works on problems of diverse scope. Ensures project schedules and performance requirements are met. Regularly interacts with customers and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
-Provides on-site touch labor support to move, add, change, or correct customer and/or system problems indicating the need for field service trouble resolution.
-Responsible for installing, configuring, and deploying microcomputers and associated hardware and/or installing and configuring software packages on microcomputers.
-Visits customers as required, ensures change requests are documented, submitted and approved prior to execution.
-Develops site administration documentation.
-Receives, updates and resolves trouble tickets as assigned.
-Adheres to Problem and Change Management process and procedures.
Supports and operates internal data communication system (LAN/WAN).
-Configures, deploys, maintains and troubleshoots LAN/WAN equipment.
-Monitors and controls the performance and status of LAN/WAN equipment (switches, routers, VPN devices, modems, KIV, etc).
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6+ years experience in a broad range of assignments in technical tasks directly related to the proposed area of responsibility. An additional 6 years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II Certification required per DODINST 8570.01-M AND an administrative level Operating Certification such as CCNA, or MCITP.
-Must have minimum of Secret clearance and be eligible for higher clearance if necessary.
-Experienced in troubleshooting and repairing PC equipment (desktop and laptop).
-Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving network (LAN/WAN) and network related faults/failure.
-Knowledge of network planning, modeling, simulation, design, installation, maintenance, management and coordination.
-CCNA or better or demonstrate equivalent or better working knowledge of installation, configuration, backup and maintenance of Cisco switches and routers in an enterprise environment, both with and without enterprise network management software.
-Must be authorized and have access to configure, manage and troubleshoot (in coordination with and
with oversight by TNOSC) all network devices locally, to include NIPR/SIPR premise routers.
-Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
-Must be familiar with the use of enterprise trouble ticket tracking systems, such as Remedy ARS.
