Position Description:
The Sign Language Interpreter position is responsible for providing equal access to deaf/hard of hearing patients and their families/significant others by interpreting in American Sign Language, transliterating English or matching the mode of communication best understood by the patient.

Position Requirements:Education:
High school diploma or GED required; 2 Year/Associate degree preferred

Experience:
3 to 5 years experience required

Knowledge, Skills:
Must possess strong organizational skills; must be proficent with medical terminology; must have strong verbal communication skills and fluency in English, American Sign Language, and Coded English; must possess excellent customer service skills.

License, Registration and/or Certification:
Required upon hire: Certification through Kansas Quality Assurance Screening at Level 4 (Interpreting) and Level 4 (Transliterating) or above, or Missouri Certification - Advanced Level or above, or National Interpreter Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
