Sign Maker, Entry-Level

The George Mason University, Facilities Management Department is currently seeking candidates for the entry-level position of Sign Maker on the Fairfax, Va., campus. This is a nonbenefited, hourly wage position. The working shift for this position will be Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Job duties for this position are to include the fabrication of digital and engraved signage, layout and application of vinyl graphics, and the delivery and installation of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and other interior signage.

The successful candidate will have some related previous sign/graphics experience. Some mechanical skills using an X- ACTO knife and a ruler/tape measure are preferred. An individual with a detail-orientation is needed for component assembly, vinyl graphics application, and layout. Must be a self-starter. The successful candidate will have the ability to make decisions in the field, and greet clients in a presentable and helpful manner to interpret their needs. Incumbent will eventually be trained in computer sign graphics and engraving of ADA Braille and nameplates. Attention to detail, proofreading and quality control skills are needed. Must have a valid driver’s license.
