We are currently searching for a Safety Manager to continuously improve our safety programs and safety culture for our site in Tunkhannock, PA. The ideal individual will drive safety, environmental, ergonomic initiatives, programs and efforts at the site level. Manage a site specific workers’ compensation program for Exel, USA, including monitoring and managing the insurance carrier, attorneys and Exel’s operations as they pertain to claim handling and settlement; assist legal with handling claims and litigation.

Detailed Job Description

Lead BBS Program

Responsible for improving safety practices, safety results reporting and tracking

Manage site safety training program to ensure compliance and consistency

Mentor the leadership team. Perform other duties as assigned by site General Mgr or Dir Operations

Implement HS&E systems and act as customer liaison for HS&E interface.

Track and manage site level risk functions’ KPI’s

Monitor and manage site level regulatory documentation for incident reporting and claims

Manage the workers’ compensation program including the insurance carrier, attorneys and operations as they pertain to claim handling and settlement

Ensure operational compliance with Exel’s return to work program

Validate and rectify discrepancies within the monthly claims chargeback program

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience

OHST , CSP or other Safety Certifications are a plus

Previous experience leading and improving BBS safety culture and managing operational metrics related to safety, DOT, HS&E, Audits

In depth knowledge of Safety, HS&E compliance, as well as, various state workers’ compensation laws

General claims knowledge with litigation management experience
