This position requires a QMHA credential (Qualified Mental Health Associate- Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral science field or 3 years full time professional work experience with individuals with mental illness.

The Skills Trainer must be able to demonstrate a work history of dependability along with strong interpersonal, organizational and clinical skills. An appreciation for and understanding of the care requirements for adults with mental health issues may contribute to job success. The Skills Trainer must be able to operate computer hardware and software at a level needed to effectively perform job functions (including electronic medical record software). This includes the ability to enter data and retrieve data and to prepare simple reports.

The Skills Trainer must have a general understanding of cultural differences and have a strong appreciation of and respect for other cultures.

This position requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record and must be able to pass a Department of Motor Vehicles check.

Work Schedule and Job Description:
Pearl House is a residential treatment facility serving adults (18-64) coping with symptoms of a serious mental illness and at times, complicated medical or addiction issues.

The work schedule for this position is: Generally, Monday thru Friday Day Shift (time schedule to be determined - approximately from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

The Skills Trainer works as a member of a team to implement and monitor the treatment of residents within the particular residential facility in which they live. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based approach to assisting clients in achieving their individual goals. The position duties include: utilizing an assessment tool to determine needs and progress, providing therapeutic interventions with residents as directed, provide training on an individual or group basis, supervision and support in living skills (ie. self care, hygiene, community resources); assisting with medication administration; assisting in crisis situations, following emergency protocols; performing household chores which may include biohazard issues; and documenting and maintaining clinical records.

This Skills Trainer will demonstrate appropriate boundaries and ethics, respect and honor client rights, demonstrate responsibility for safety of residents and property, participate in regular supervision and staff meetings, complete employee trainings, and fulfill billing requirements.
