TED is hiring a social media editor to manage our presence across several major platforms. You'll handle daily postings on Twitter, Facebook and Google+, and weekly posts on Tumblr, Pinterest and TED Conversations -- developing a strategy for each platform while preserving TED's warm, informative voice.

Required: At least four years of experience working in social media, with a proven ability to think strategically about social engagement. Deep familiarity with social media analytics tools and industry-wide best practices -- especially to back up your own well-formed opinion about how TED as a whole (including our initiatives such as TED Talks, the TED Prize, TEDx and more) should interact with the online conversation. Perfect spelling is a must. A second language is a definite plus. A strong existing social media presence is a definite plus.

This is a newly created position based in our Manhattan office; your first task will be to take an inventory of our sprawling social media footprint, meet with stakeholders across TED's departments and initiatives, and work with the editor of to develop a strategy to go forward with. You'll be expected to articulate the value of social media to large, collaborative decisionmaking groups. You'll advise on and execute long-term plans for events and launches, as well as advise on and execute fast-breaking responses in real time.
