Performs a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, online community development and management, web and database updates, commenting, etc. Stays well-connected to the broader social media world; implements the programs and initiatives identified by client units within Indiana University; works within the IU Communications team and is responsible for the social media activity associated with the IUPUI campus, the IU School of Medicine, Sound Medicine radio program, and the Office of the Vice President of Engagement.
Beyond utilizing various social media tools, this position will understand why they should be used, and will decide what makes sense for the organization, incorporating social media strategy into the strategy for the client as a whole. Additionally, this position is responsible for reviewing what is working and what needs improvement, paying attention to where client audiences are spending most of their time, and then finding ways to engage these audiences through a variety of social media platforms.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, informatics or related marketing/communications area and two years of user experience in social media tools and activity and a demonstrated high level of knowledge with same.
Experience with HootSuite, Tweetdeck, WordPress or other social media management software; thorough knowledge of social marketing concepts and purpose; marketing experience in social media; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of audiences from students through top-level administrators; strong organizational and analytical skills; and ability to be positive, proactive, and forward thinking.
Note: This position will be located in downtown Indianapolis.
