be a permanent NYS employee eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service law. To qualify for Section 70.1 transfer, candidates must have at least one year of permanent status in a title approved for transfer by Civil Service within two salary grades of the Grade 23 level.

Provisional Opportunity:
The Civil Service eligible list for this title may be exhausted for this area. New York State employees who have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/55c service as a Licensed Master Social Worker 2 and are licensed and currently registered as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) may be qualified for provisional appointment to this position.

Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.

In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.

Duties Description

As a Social Work Supervisor 1, you would be responsible for clinical supervision of Social Work staff. You will be asked to make supervisory judgments concerning social work principles, practices and procedures. You will be responsible for assessing the quality and appropriateness of care planned and provided to clients/consumers; evaluating the quality of documentation in case record; ensuring treatment and discharge plans are relevant to client/consumer needs and resources are used effectively; and taking effective supervisory action given specific problems and situations.

Note: Due to the nature of this position, some evening shifts will be required.
