About the Position:
This position is with the US Army Garrison, Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation in the Army Community Services Division. Serves under general administrative supervision of the Army Community Services (ACS) Division Chief, in terms of broadly defined missions and overall policy direction and services.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Must be licensed as a Social Worker.

Must meet credentialing and certification requirements.

Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 10%.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) may be authorized.

DUTIES:
The New Parent Support Program (NPSP), Social Worker, Home Visitor (HV), works under the general supervision of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Manager who defines objectives and changes in policy. Works in accordance with state laws, hospital regulations and policies, and standing operating procedures. Coordinates and directs the installation NPSP independently. The supervisor is kept informed of progress and consulted when major problems arise. Work is reviewed for compliance with established guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Specialized Experience: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in addition to meeting the Education Requirement, providing direct social work services to identify families in a home visitation program model designed to promote healthy family interactions, enhance parenting skills and reduce incidences of initial and recurrent family maltreatment among families.

OR

• I have three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a directly related Ph.D. degree. You must provide transcripts to support educational claims.

OR

• I have a directly related Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must provide transcripts to support educational claims.

OR

• I have less than one year of specialized experience as described above, and less than three (3) years of doctoral-level graduate education as described above. You must provide transcripts to support educational claims.

• You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:

• Knowledge of Intervention Services

• Knowledge of Planning and Program Management

• Knowledge of Education and Training

• Ability to Communicate verbally and in writing

EDUCATION:
The Social Worker occupation has specific education requirement which apply to all positions.

• Possess a Master's Degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Transcripts must be provided to support educational claims.

• All applicants MUST hold an independent clinical license as a social worker as recognized by licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

• Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

• Must meet degree and licensure requirements for privileging under IAW AR 40-68.

• Personnel Security investigation required.

• Initiation of State Criminal History Repository checks for each state where an individual has resided for the past five (5) years may be required prior to appointment to a position.
