The successful candidate will work on small software teams using C#, python, SQL, etc, to develop and deliver software that enables research scientists to create the biotechnology traits demanded in today’s marketplace. The candidate will work with the client researchers and the project team to design and develop multi-tier software systems to meet these needs in a heterogeneous environment including Windows and Linux. The candidate will help to establish and maintain system infrastructure such as application and build servers.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics or related field and 1-2 years of software development experience required; or equivalent levels of relevant education and experience.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and have the demonstrated ability to design and implement robust and effective object-oriented software applications that leverage relational databases.
This position requires proven skill in an object oriented language. (C#, Java, C++, Python, Ruby, etc)
Highly desirable experience includes the following:
- Designing, using, and optimizing complex relational database systems.
- Development of rich client/server applications using .Net, WPF, WCF, and Windows Forms.
- UNIX/Linux server application development.
- Experience with high performance computing environments.
- C#/.Net, iOS, Python, SQL, Java, C++
Background or interest in biology, genetics or agriculture and the ability to understand complex scientific problems is a plus.
