The Shipping Quality Engineering team is building a presence in WA to augment the growth of our development teams. We are seeking top-notch Quality Engineers/Software Developers in Test who are strong with building/testing web services (REST, SOAP), APIs and OO Programming using Java and/or strong scripting skills. These analytical, innovative/critical thinkers, will test complex data driven web applications , build a core logistics platform, and create/extend automation frameworks and tools.
The team is on a mission to revamp how we do Shipping at eBay. Given the vast amount of data at our disposal and the massive number of transactions going through the site daily we are perfectly positioned to optimize for a good buying and selling experience. Provide up-to-the-minute delivery estimates for buyers and sellers using data mining and machine learning techniques
Add more end-to-end order fulfillment and shipment solutions for buyers and sellers globally
Focus on reducing cross-border trading obstacles for Asia Pacific region, standardize tracking and labels and reduce operational delays while getting the cheapest rates available.
General responsibilities include:
Write automation testing in Java, Junit, Selenium and other internal Java-based automation frameworks for Front-end, SOA/Services and messaging components
Design and execute API level tests for Java applications, integration tests for web services, and user-level tests for web applications.
Contribute to developing sophisticated, stable, internal Java automation frameworks increasing efficiency, re-usability and flexibility supporting a 100+ person QA organization.
Help develop, enhance and set vision for eBay’s continuous integration framework, merging build/compile/test/validate processes with scheduling, automated notifications and graduated build deployments
Contribute to development and vision for environment management, test automation admin and monitoring tools for a large scale, distributed component agile testing environment supporting hundreds of Quality Engineers and Developers across over 1000 servers
Design, development and execution of test plans, test cases, and test strategies. You will be expected to contribute to functional, integration, performance, data quality, and regression testing.
Scope and estimate testing effort, help plan projects, track progress to schedule, and report status including mitigation and remediation plans for project risks.
Work with engineers, team leads, managers to help developing innovative testing solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles

Lead and Drive knowledge sharing across your team and others, merge latest/greatest ideas from diverse areas to create next-generation solutions that impact the broader organization
Help set vision for automation frameworks, continuous integration environments and test strategies across teams
Influence over development and architecture counterparts to design for testability
Prioritize and plan testing activities for the broader team including coordinated integration testing for larger projects
Lead larger cross-functional projects, prioritize test activities and find creative solutions to blocking issues and problems
Participate in hiring decisions, performance feedback for more junior engineers
The ideal person will have strong experience (5+ years) with OO Programming using Java (or C#, C++) and/or scripting languages to design develop distributed systems that scale to millions of users , building/testing web services (REST, SOAP), APIs, automation experience (using, extending and/or building frameworks) , white box testing, junit (or nunit) testing , and experience using selenium and/or web driver. Experience in the shipping domain (logistics, supply chain, & online order fulfillment) is a plus.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience building services using Java, REST, and SOAP

Thorough understanding of parallel algorithms and concurrency

BSCS or BSEE or Other Related 4yr Technical Degree
