Specific Job Description
Conducts or participates in the research, design, development, and testing of spacecraft battery power systems. Primary job focus is to work as a team member in a software development group to perform maintenance and new development activities for COTS and/or custom hardware and software for battery testing, including developing software control, data acquisition and instrument driver programs. Also performs system integration, checkout and validation tasks. Must be able to interpret electrical designs and lead troubleshooting efforts, obtain Certified Test Conductor certification, and interface with program customers. Plans, directs, reviews and coordinates project documentation to ensure customer, contract, and company requirements are met. Collaboratively refines requirements to ensure that the intent is met even when not explicitly stated in requirements. Prepares specifications, evaluates vendors, and analyzes test data and reports. Works integrally with other hardware, software and test engineers and technician staff and is able to communicate complex technical ideas to an audience with varied technical backgrounds.

Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.
