Position: Firmware Engineer
Technical area: Embedded real-time systems
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
This role will design, develop, implement and verify firmware and software applications to be used in product design and global tester architectures to enable successful design implementation and design transfer.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience in developing firmware and/or VHDL for real-time embedded integrated circuits in a product development environment. Proven ability in architecting, designing and programing embedded control applications including but not limited to real time operating systems, drivers, signal processing, algorithm implementation, serial data streaming and packaging is required. In addition, candidate must have experience in debugging/troubleshooting/validating embedded designs with demonstrated ability to simulate for virtual prototyping prior to integrated circuit builds.
Responsibilities include coordination between global CT Detector design/test teams and identify firmware architecture, conceptual design including software platform tool selection, prototype evaluation, design verification and creation/release of relevant design documents. Ensure appropriate design interfaces with the CT host software/firmware teams to ensure reliable and robust communication for smooth integration of CT Detector data into the CT data chain. Deliver tester firmware ensuring a common architecture across various x-ray and electrical testers to ensure a platform design and lead documentation and process qualification in this area during design transfer.
•BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science with minimum 5 years of relevant experience
•Experience with coding and integrating DSPs (e.g.: TI) and Microcontrollers (e.g.: Microchip, TI) with the hardware designs.
•Working knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, Cache, C, C++, Ja2120040va, .NET, Visual Basic or similar programming languages.
•Experience and working knowledge in Real Time Operating Systems and respective drivers.
•Well versed with detailed firmware/software interface validation procedures and detailed documentation.
•Experience or knowledge of Design for Reliability software, Agile and Lean software development methodologies to identify fault trees and implement Designs for Reliability and Testability early in the product development cycle.
•Knowledge of Control System Application or prior experience and knowledge of hardware-software interaction with event-driven programming
•Working knowledge of Linux, Microsoft Windows development environments and system tools.
•Six Sigma Experience
•MS in Electrical/Computer engineering or Computer Science.
•10+ years of experience in industry, preferably in the Medical Devices Sector
•Experience and working knowledge in VxWorks and Rhapsody
•Working knowledge of MIPS processors
•Demonstrated experience in designing FPGA using VHDL or Verilog, test-bench designs and multilayer state machines.
•Prior experience in an imaging modality such as CT
•DFSS BB certified.
