Like our wikis and communities, Wikia is passionate, high-energy and collaborative. Wikia is one of the largest "creative commons" sites in the world. While you may or may not have heard of us, odds are that you've been linked to our Wikis and perused our content numerous times in the past. We maintain over 300,000 wikis across an impressive array of subjects, spanning virtually all aspects of popular culture. Wikia is the top global video game publisher on the Web today, with over 70 million unique visitors a day. Wikia was founded in 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley as a for profit Wiki based platform. We are headquartered in a brightly colored SOMA office in San Francisco, CA. .
You are a quality driven engineer that cares deeply about users and their experience on your platform. You also understand how business drivers such as time to market and total costs of engineering are equally important. In the face of these often conflicting notions, you know what trade offs to make at which phases of the features' life cycle, and can advocate for and execute the proper levels of testing. Furthermore, you have broad expertise in test automation concepts, and can help drive the plans and approaches to building the right levels of automation at the right time.
Wikia is looking for a bright, motivated, and influential QA engineer to bootstrap the San Francisco Quality team. You will be the first in to a culture that desires higher quality in their approaches but that currently doesn't have QA people directly involved in the process. You will need to use a wide range of skills combining technical, planning, evangelical, negotiation, and of course your finely tuned attention to detail to help drive quality into the way Wikia builds our software.
We are a globally distributed, fast moving platform that has experienced consistent growth in both the scale of the service and size of the engineering organization. Over the past year, we have successfully integrated QA into our larger, Poland based engineering department and are now looking to do likewise in the growing SF office. This is a mid-to-senior level opening for a QA veteran with 5 or more years of experience.
This position is full-time, based out of our San Francisco office. This position could involve occasional travel to our engineering office in Poznan, Poland.
