We are currently seeking a Software Technical Writer to assist us with documentation for our Media Rating Council Audit.
This position is responsible for documentation of all technology and business process processes surrounding the reporting of television viewing metrics. This position as critical is it is a key role in Rentrak's Media Rating Council accreditation effort. The Technical writer must document business applications for the initial audit and sequential audits. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work well with technical staff (software engineers, quality assurance analysts, etc.), as well as the ability to work with other team members to gain required information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Work with Operations team to create detailed process documents. Create and maintain MRC documentation of all software applications and programs which fall under the accreditation process Work with statistical research team to create detailed documentation of all methodological components Work with appropriate cross-departmental staff to ensure the tracking and timely completion of written documentation deliverables to comply with auditor requests Maintain library of current and past program documentation via Configuration Management process (as appropriate) for all programs. Develop user specification documents as needed Participate in internal and external MRC (Media Rating Council) programming and I/S (Information Systems) audits.
Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
Excellent knowledge of MS Office software suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficient in the use of project and flow charting software Familiarity with statistical analysis â€“ ability to take complex algorithms and describe in layman's terms Familiarity with basic code documentation requirements and technical writing Experience with user specification documents, test planning and implementation Exposure to programming languages and the ability to learn/understand basic code Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to converse technically with programmers and users Meets deadlines consistently Ability to deal with complex audit information requests Non-standard work schedule; some weekend and evening hours may be required Ability to handle changing priorities, multiple demands and meet tight deadlines.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in in technical or communication field (math, computer science, journalism, etc.). MS Degree in quantitative field preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in documentation and/or technical writing Experience working with Media Rating Council policies and procedures desirable
