Meggitt Sensing Systems (MSS) is seeking a key Software Test Engineer to join our new Irvine, CA location (Orange County). This is a high-profile, growth opportunity, as Meggitt is creating a presence in Orange County, with 5 divisions in California alone.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of development, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of production and test equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :
Work in conjunction with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing to design, develop and/or improve software, fabrication and testing processes, and technology.
Support and improve software, production and test methods, and equipment to enable the manufacture of reliable products at the lowest cost and highest throughput.
Write and maintain documentation for software, equipment and processes as required.
Design and develop tools for assembly and/or testing as required.
Actively participate with the implementation of “lean manufacturing”.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS:
Ensure that equipment is available to manufacturing when needed. Troubleshooting and repairs are completed with a minimum impact to production.
Contributor to Efficiency improvement metrics site-wide.
Contributor to scrap reduction metrics site-wide.
Complete assigned capital projects on time and within budget.
Education/Certification: BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or equivalent
Required Knowledge: Experience with design, development, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical equipment
Experience Required: Minimum give (5) years pertinent experience in a manufacturing environment
Skills/Abilities: Good communication, organizational and planning skills. Substantial experience with Lab View or similar programming language. Excellent project management skills. Mechanically inclined. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Hands-on problem solver. Analytical problem solving approach. Experience working in a “lean environment” a plus. Proficient in computer software applications such as Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc. Experience with testing vibration, shock and pressure a plus.
