The solder technician will perform all tasks that require a soldering iron to the acceptable standards defined by IPC.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Solders cable assemblies to connectors
Solders components to printed circuit boards
Performs continuity tests with product specific equipment.
Follows the documented management system, including the Quality Policy. Further, the employee is required to understand how their job can affect customer satisfaction and/or product quality.
Reacts positively to change and performs other duties as assigned.
SOLDER TECHNICIAN LEVELS:
Solder Tech I Requirements:
0-6 months experience in soldering
Must pass the practical application visual exam
Must complete and pass the test for Modules 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 of IPC 610
Solder Tech II Requirements:
Minimum 6 months experience in soldering
Must complete and pass IPC 600
Must complete all Modules for a Tech 1 plus modules 3, 5, and 9 of IPC 610
Solder Tech III Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years experience in soldering
Must pass the test for J-Standard solder ability
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic math skills
Ability to recognize and distinguish colors
Maintains and meets company efficiency goals
Understands SMT, Thru-Hole and J-Cup soldering techniques
Ability to understand and use customer documentation including CAD drawings and
Bill Of Materials to produce a quality product
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least two (2) years of soldering experience or certification from an IPC certified course provider.
