The Domain Architect is responsible for providing technical expertise on decisions and priorities regarding systems architecture. He/she educates and facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions. Develops and documents the framework and implementation for changes to existing technical architecture.
This role focuses on designing complex application architectures to solve business problems. The primary focus is on custom enterprise frameworks and re-usable components. This person will independently create the solution architecture for the domain and then use excellent communication and influencing skills to drive implementation. The ideal candidate will thrive in seeking challenging problems, proposing and presenting solutions, building relationships, soliciting feedback, and finding ways to demonstrate the value or architecture throughout the enterprise.
The person provide's a bridge between specific business problems and issues and the solutions which are need to support them. This role ensures compliance with the Enterprise Architecture in a project. This role is project facing and provides two areas of support. With a business focus, ensuring the solution meets the business requirements, within the Enterprise Architecture Roadmap. With a technical architecture focus ensuring that the enterprise requirements for reuse, compliance to standards/best practices, principles, traceability to enterprise reference models, align with the target enterprise architecture vision.
Responsible for the architecture of business solutions developed by solution delivery teams. Leveraging existing enterprise architecture assets ( business processes, applications, data, technology) and ensuring compliance with the target Enterprise Architecture blueprint. This role must have solid understanding of the basic Application Architecture concepts, theory, principles, methodology and framework, agile methodology, architecture and design patterns. 20%
Develop solution architecture, in collaboration with other solutions team members that balance the goals of the business and the constraints on the project; including strategic IM plans. This includes Identifying and developing innovative solutions that enable business strategies and that are highly scalable and performing. Background in retail industry a plus. 20%
Facilitate the development of target state architectures related to business oriented and IM oriented projects. Develop solutions architecture artifacts including future state application architecture, service candidate blueprints, and future state information architecture. 20%
Identifying, evaluating and driving the adoption of new products and product versions in adherence with corporate standards and meeting functional and non-functional requirements. Should have expereince and/or working knowlege with the following technologies and platforms:
- Operating Systems (e.g. AIX, Linux, Windows).
- DB platforms (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL)
- Integration Technologies (e.g. TIBCO, Oracle Fusion, IBM WS ESB). 10%
Enable the feedback of repeated engineering issues to the Enterprise Architecture team for the creation of new referential patterns, new standards, new enterprise infrasturcture assets 10%
Work with the Solution Team to provide SME support in design activities for services and integration solutions 10%
• Acting as steward for driving standardization and best practices that promote reuse of services and other software assets across the domain/enterprise
Drive rationalization of solutions in order ensuring business capablities are met from a technical perspective.
• Researching options, conduct proof-of-concepts and make recommendations
• Publishing direction statements that guide planning and implementation of strategies and systems projects
• Identifying and/or designing tooling and patterns that simplify and accelerate the development process, promote governance, and reduce risk
• Collaborating with other architects to develop solutions that integrate well across platforms. 10%
