The role of "Solutions Architect" requires knowledge and skills that are both broad and deep. To be effective the Solutions Architect the candidate must have experience on multiple Hardware and Software Environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems environments. The person needs an ability to share and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language that is easily understood by all levels.

The Solutions Architect is expected to be an expert in many categories. They should have hands-on experience in multiple industries and across several disciplines. This candidate should be able to master a variety of hardware platforms including mainframes, distributed platforms and desktops and also possess skills and understanding of a variety of Operating Systems including mainframe systems.

Responsibilities

Assesses and analyses business requirements, current state environment and technology choices to evaluate solution alternatives that meet business sponsor needs.

Defines end to end technical solutions that take into account the solution architecture strategies, current state environment and constraints. Analyses the viability of the solution to meet project timeline, budget and quality.

Identifies technical issues and risks and defines mitigation approach.

Provides technical leadership to the project right from the idea creation stage.

Works with Project Managers, Group Managers and assists in the development of the project roadmap.

Develops and presents solution alternatives along with recommendations to stakeholders.

Leads the technical evaluation of the identified vendor solution.

Works with technical systems specialist, business systems specialists from the impacted application groups/3rd parties to understand the current state and constraints for defining the future state architecture & the interfaces.

Works with Data Architecture, Security Architecture and Infrastructure SME's to ensure that all aspects of the solution architecture are defined and elaborated.

Presents project solution architecture at the Architecture review board.

Provide technical leadership throughout the project life cycle

Experience

The right person for this exciting role will have broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance. Extensive experience with writing business case, presentation skills, and financial service consulting,

Bachelor's degree in a technical area of study (computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) or other BS/BA degree with a concentration in computer science or information systems

10 years out of which 3 years doing solution architectures on projects

Technical leadership and mentoring skills

Analytical and problem solving capability

5 years of experience in technical roles within an Applications Development environment as a consultant

Must have strong oral/written communication skills

Must be able to work independently and be comfortable developing core project initiation deliverables through client dialogue

Must have understanding of methodologies

Meet basic deliverable expectations

Solid knowledge of the IT domain area

Additional Requirements

100% travel to client site is required
