Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
Provide pre-sale design and post-sale implementation and support for network management systems and distributed control systems for public safety Customer accounts. Work with a team including sales, system integrators, product engineers, third-party suppliers and program managers to provide control system solutions for Motorola communication systems.
Responsibilities include devising technical strategies, ACE3600/MOSCAD application development, HMI application development, control systems architecture and detailed design work, determining equipment layouts, and conducting system staging and system testing. Participate in making Customer presentations.
Generate implementation plans and system test reports. During certain points in project life cycles -- such as staging, acceptance testing and coverage testing -- some travel and significant field work is required.
Bachelors Degree, Concentration in Control Systems strongly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience working with end user customers is highly desired. Must be able to work effectively with Motorola employees, and customers and consultants with minimal supervision.
Experience with RF voice and data systems is strongly preferred.
Experience in similar engineering positions is highly desired.
Excellent troubleshooting skills required at both the system level and at the application level.
Highly proficient in PLC programming in a real-time, distributed system (ACE3600, MOSCAD, C, C++, Ladder Logic).
Highly proficient in networking protocols (MDLC, HDLC, MODBUS, TCP/IP).
Highly proficient in HMI development (Wonderware, Adventnet).
Working knowledge of data transport technology (T1, RS232, RS485, wireless, optical).
Working knowledge of standard SCaDA digital I/O; contact forms and abbreviations (form-A, B, C, NO, NC, SPST, SPDT, DPDT, etc.)
Working knowledge of standard SCaDA analog I/O (4-20mA, -5 to +5V, 0-5V, 1-5V).
