The Solutions Engineer is the primary technical resource for the sales force during the pre-sales cycle. The Solutions Engineer is responsible for technically qualifying customers, proactively driving the technology evaluation phase of a sales cycle, developing ad server migration plans, and partnering with sales to advocate for the needs of our prospects with Product Management. The Solutions Engineer must be able to evangelize the AppNexus value proposition, architect ad serving solutions, and offer thought leadership to both business and technical audiences.
This role is ideal for someone with software pre-sales experience or equivalent technical consulting background. Excellent communication & business skills are critical to be in this client-facing role. Ad serving domain experience is not required.
Drive the technical qualification and closure aspects of the sales cycle while meeting revenue goals and winning strategic deals.
Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to a C-level as well as technical audience
Map a customer’s business and technical needs to AppNexus technology solutions.
Build and maintain technical trusted advisor relationships with influential technical decision makers.
Evangelize AppNexus products and technologies in the marketplace.
Coordinate with Product Management when customer requirements need feature development
Develop a clear and jointly agreed upon solution architecture and migration plan.
Perform formal hand-off of closed deals to the Account Team responsibility for implementation.
Assist in developing world class sales engineering process and assets.
Proven technical sales or consulting experience in enterprise accounts and experience using solution selling methodologies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with equally good listening and qualification skills.
A BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline is preferred.
Must be comfortable with up to 25% travel and flexibility to travel ad-hoc
Passionate about working in an extremely fast-paced, demanding, and fluid start-up environment
Intellectual curiosity, passion for learning technology
Familiarity with online media buying and selling, advertising technology solutions, and ad network business models a plus
Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline from a top-tier school
