The primary work location for this position will be either Raleigh, N.C. or Charlotte, N.C. Relocation may be considered for this position.

This Position will focus on sourcing, negotiating and establishing contracts for materials/equipment and services as well as contract administration for fossil, hydro, new generation and environmental Major Projects. Efforts will include evaluating key parameters associated with the scope of work or specifications, addressing those items with the project team members to determine the optimal fit for purpose design or scope of work, and striving to subsequently negotiate and deploy a contract. The sourcing specialist works in a fast-paced environment supporting many IT projects and initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Execute sourcing, contracts and contract management activities
  • Develop business plans to address long term sourcing needs and collaborate with project team to plan overall procurement schedule
  • Manage project procurement schedule and coordinate with project team including external engineering firms.
  • Analyze and understand market and supplier conditions
  • Maintain effective interfaces with internal and external customers, suppliers, and contractors
  • Establish supplier relationship strategy and approach
  • Act as an authorized agent of the company with responsibility for addressing supplier performance and authority to commit company resources through contracts and agreements
  • Develop requests for quotations and proposals, analyze supplier responses, negotiate and award contracts, and manage post award supplier activities
  • Negotiate complex agreements
  • Analyze and negotiate change orders and claims
  • Assist with resolving blocked invoices (i.e. material and invoice discrepancies, disputes, etc.)
  • Maintain knowledge of sources of supplies and market conditions that may impact future procurement. Stay abreast of trends and technology
  • Insure compliance with procurement standards (legal, SOX, etc.)
  • Coordinate closely and communicate effectively with project team including project management, engineering, project controls, and other support groups such as legal, tax, and insurance
  • Collaborate effectively with category management leaders within Supply Chain


Basic Qualifications:
  • Four year degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics or equivalent work experience
  • At least five years of related work experience
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and “total cost” concept
  • Demonstrated cost and financial analysis skills
