The Southeast Volusia Advertising Authority (SEVA) is seeking an experienced Director. The director will be responsible for the overall management, development, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive advertising/marketing strategies to increase leisure and business travel to Volusia County, especially within its tax collection boundaries. The director will act as the primary spokesperson for the authority, report to the SEVA board and work with them on policymaking and strategies for the organization and will direct and lead the organization toward its mission.

Illustrative Duties:
Establish budgetary needs and set goals to enhance local tourism. Work with advisory boards, committees and staff to develop and implement an annual marketing plan. Supervise the implementation of an operating and annual marketing plan to promote the area to local, state, regional, national and international audiences. Maintain close and effective communication with county and city officials, local businesses and groups and organizations. Apprise the authority, county and city officials of activities and related issues. Coordinate projects through meetings, correspondence, and presentations where information is exchanged. Prepare meeting agendas and perform all necessary jobs to coordinate meetings. Develop and monitor an annual budget that supports the authority’s activities. Review, approve, and prepare all invoices for payment. Conduct media buys for the authority. Review all financial reporting monthly to ensure the adequacy and soundness of the organization’s financial status. Ensure the board receives comprehensive financial reporting on a quarterly basis, or more frequently if requested. Coordinate budget with county management and budget division. Present the annual budget to the authority for approval. Adhere to the authority’s policies and procedures for purchasing advertising, capital, travel, and other expenditures. Ensure all authority activities are implemented within established policies, guidelines, state and federal laws as well as the highest of ethical standards. Represent the advertising authority at selected local, state, regional, national, and international conventions and other business meetings that serve to foster the success of the authority’s mission. Supervise subordinate staff and volunteers, resolving work-related issues and applying applicable policies. Make decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, compensation and discipline of all employee team members in accordance with the authority by-laws.

Minimum Requirements:
The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public relations, hospitality management, or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in the tourism industry. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements. The preferred applicant will have at least five (5) years of proven, successful marketing experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of brand enhancement, management and leveraging as well as E-commerce.
Skilled in sales team recruitment, development, and retention.
Skilled in the areas of market analysis, deployment and research
Demonstrated knowledge of cooperative marketing initiatives and destination marketing.
Skilled in setting goals and measuring success.
Demonstrated knowledge of the leisure market.
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates, public officials, other governmental agencies, and the general public.
Skilled in the supervision of subordinate staff and assigning work.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to groups and to individuals.
Skilled in preparing and analyzing budgetary tools and reports.

Ability to speak publicly and extemporaneously; conversant in policies, techniques and procedures of discipline. Ability to analyze data and develop conclusions. Ability to identify and resolve problems.
