Position Overview: Conforms to all policies and procedures established regarding cash handling and guest check collection, including the use of Micros Point of Sale system. Responsible for balancing monies and completing cashier balance sheets. Complies with all rules involved in obtaining and utilizing house banks. In the absence of the Sous Chef, the attendant is responsible for prepping, organizing and cleaning cook station, reach-in and walk-in freezers, handling, storage, rotating fresh products daily and preparation of hot and cold food items to coordinate with the menu. Prepares hot items, cold salads, slices meats and cheeses, maintains proper holding temperatures for foods and maintains proper sanitation methods. Must have the ability to prepare specified dishes on a la carte menu. Must maintain a professional appearance and stature at all times.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to uneven ground hot or cold and must engage in interpersonal relations with guests. While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level of the guest area is frequently lower than that of a normal conversation level.
The noise level in The Cafe is occasionally louder than other areas of The Spa and consists of a variety of sounds (music, voice and equipment). In addition, the work area may at times be congested with other employees, guests, equipment and/or supplies. The employee will be exposed to various types of cleaning chemicals.
Minimum Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age or older.
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None needed.
Other Qualifications: Must be bright and personable and have the ability to get along with others. Work cooperatively within a team and take personal responsibility for actions. Should be highly service oriented, posses exemplary personal skills, and be well organized and self motivated.

Have a working knowledge of GPI general information and History.
Complete all training provided by The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa as requested per spa management.
Present a well-groomed, professional appearance and in full uniform at all times while on property or at work related events specified in the GPI employee handbook, Superior Performance Standards of The Spa and the conditions of Employment of The Spa.

Have a complete knowledge of all Spa services, packages, promotions and retail products presently offered by The Spa and ability to communicate and promote to guests.
Maintain a pristine environment at all times and in your work area in a professional manner in accordance with The Spa’s World Class Guest Standards. Report anything that is not world-class or 5-star to a Supervisor.
Participate in all spa activities including staff meetings, educational events, workshops, inventory or promotions as requested per spa management.

Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized area of operation and adheres to the rules and regulations regarding sanitation as established by the Buncombe County Board of Health. A sanitation grade of 98-102 is preferred.
Responsible for maintaining established par levels of all products.
Is responsible for the setup and breakdown of Spa Cafe, including prep station, replenishing dishware, stocking, retrieving orders from storeroom, etc.
Adheres to all opening and closing duties established.
Store and rotate products properly, using the first in, first out method.
Must maintain daily and monthly inventory and order food from the storeroom using the computer tracking system as needed.
Prepare food products and garnishes in the kitchens for use in The Spa Café.
Prepare/arrange all dishes on the menu in The Spa Café according to the recipe and food guides.
Have knowledge of all menu items and wines and able to answer all questions about the menu. This includes: cooking procedures, preparation and origins of food and beverage products.
Work with Sous Chef and Supervisor on luncheons and special events; help with food preparation, plating and overall execution of event.
