Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the state application. **INTERNAL TO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY EMPLOYEES ONLY** The primary purpose of this position is to perform the duties of sworn law enforcement within the assigned district and throughout North Carolina. This position investigate violations of the ABC laws, controlled substances act, gambling statues, and other criminal activities which occur primarily in conjunction with the sale and service of alcoholic beverages; conduct background investigations for the North Carolina ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) Commission and NCEL (North Carolina Education Lottery).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies: Knowledge-Technical: Significant expertise and knowledge of law enforcement concepts, practices, and theories used in the technical specialty area. In-depth understanding of detailed and complex information and ability to apply while independently completing assigned tasks. Program Management: Provide leadership in planning and organizing work of others and adapt to unanticipated changes in plans. Be accountable for tracking programs and anticipate and manage problems. Consult with supervisors and provide input in development of long-range strategic alternatives. Enforcement/Support/Problem Solving: Ability to use or develop innovative solutions and/or design. Ability to use methodical and logical approach to complete assigned self-initiated investigations in a timely manner. Communication: Ability to daily assimilate and express thoughts, ideas, and information effectively orally and through written communication for controversial subjects and technical issues.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A four year degree from an accredited college or university and two years of law enforcement experience in the area supervised; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must posses North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Certification . Management Preference: Preference will be given to those applicants that have six (6) years prior Alcohol Law Enforcement experience.
