You will manage a portfolio of adversely graded real estate and commercial credits, taking appropriate actions to minimize the Bank’s risk of loss in a timely and effective manner with the goal of resolution through rehabilitation, exit or liquidation.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Determine and recommend retention or workout of risk-based clients which represent strategic asset relationships to the Bank.
2. When possible work to restore strategic credit relationships to a pass grade.
3. Meet with borrowers and develop strategies to resolve problem loans; assess and communicate problem loans to the Special Assets Group (SAG) Manager).
4. Develop action plans and participate in all aspects of periodic reporting and timely completion of Problem Loan Reports and other reports as necessary.
5. Obtain borrower financial statements, property operating statements and other items as needed for preparation of Loan Status Reports.
6. Make recommendations to the SAG Manager regarding upgrading/downgrading problem loans, classifying accounts as non-accrual, restoring back to accrual and balance charge-offs.
7. Manage OREO and recovery efforts on charged-off loans.
8. Insure appraisals and Broker Price Opinions are updated within policy parameters.
9. Participate in determination of OREO valuation reserve, complete FAS 157 Analysis, and recommend specific loss amounts based upon updated appraisals, Broker Price Opinions and expertise.
10. Obtain and coordinate assistance from legal counsel as necessary.
11. Work closely with attorneys on lawsuits and bankruptcies.
12. Assess risk and loss in loan portfolios as assigned.
13. Exercise a high degree of initiative and independence in determining risk exposure among individual credits and lending portfolios as assigned.
14. Advise the SAG Manager of any special situations potentially exposing the Bank to risk of loss.
15. Participate in determination of loss allocation amounts for individual credits, complete FAS 114 Analysis and recommend specific loss amounts according to expertise and supported research as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Perform loan modifications, extensions, assumptions and proprty inspections, and intervene on loan servicing issues, as needed.
2. Participate in performance evaluation by recognizing accopplishments, setting goals, identifying training and educational needs and assessing career goals.
3. Conform to departmental policies and procedures.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s degree or MBA preferable.
2. At least five (5) years of real estate/corporate loan workout experience. (Experience includes knowledge of bankruptcy laws, workout strategies, real estate and commercial credit workout analysis, structuring and market dynamics.)
3. Previous corporate special assets credit approval experience with the ability to assume direct responsibility in workout strategies/negotiations.
4. Proven experience resolving problem loans through work-with and work-out plans.

Requirements
