Paraprofessional V: $14.51 - $21.47
Up to 30 hrs/wk at various school locations
Assist and supervise students with disabilities in various school environments including classroom and playground; assist students and implement strategies for learning academic skills, such as reading and math; assist students with learning skills needed to transition to greater independence; participate in team planning and other duties assigned by staff. Job requires being mobile and on your feet a majority of time.
Candidates must have at least two years post-secondary training and be able to demonstrate a minimum of 1-2 years previous experience with students with special needs; ability to work with students having emotional, physical and cognitive special needs; ability to take initiative in responding to students' needs in a manner which is respectful and effective; ability to provide opportunities for students to complete task independently, when appropriate; flexibility in responding to students needs; ability to maintain student confidentiality; ability to work with students individually, in groups, in a resource room, or through computer use; ability to respond to health care needs such as toileting, feeding, transferring. Knowledge of or prior experience with learning and behavior management strategies preferred.
