The Capitol Region Education Council seeks a highly qualified special education teacher to provide services to students at The Public Safety Academy in Enfield, CT.

Responsibilities: ideal applicants will have experience teaching students with cognitive, physical, and/or emotional/behavioral disabilities, assessing how each child learns best and then adapting teaching methods to fit unique learning styles. Candidates must also have experience consulting with general education teachers, planning and developing creative teaching and learning activities, and administering diagnostic tests and evaluating outcomes of teaching methods as well as participating in student placement team meetings and contributing to the accomplishment of team goals. Candidates must be able to effectively communicate and interact with parents, LEAs, and other personnel to ensure the accomplishment of educational goals.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of innovative and differentiated instructional strategies. A commitment to working in a reflective and collaborative professional environment is a must. The candidate should be able to work with the school's Theme Coach to develop interdisciplinary lessons.

Requires college degree and relevant CT SDE certification in special education and prior experience working with diverse populations. Pre-K certification may be required depending on individual school's needs. Experience with PBIS and EIP services strongly preferred.
