We are seeking FT Special Education (Type 10 w/LBS) Certified Teacher for our Ombudsman Lyons Plus center in Countryside, IL for the 2012-2013 School Year.

Middle and high school students who have dropped out or are on the verge of dropping out of school often benefit from the one-on-one attention from Ombudsman. Instructors work with at-risk students to determine his or her abilities, challenges and personal needs. Ombudsman instructors help students identify and overcome academic obstacles as well as family, personal and emotional issues that impact their success. At Ombudsman, each student has the potential to graduate and succeed in life.
The Special Education Teacher provides leadership so that students make meaningful progress toward reaching their full potential as learners and meets the responsibilities of the position in a quality manner with an open mind toward performance improvement recommendations, so that all resources are utilized efficiently. The Special Education Teacher diagnoses, prescribes, treats and evaluates students on an individual level and on-going basis. The Special Education Teacher is accountable for student conduct and upholding center rules and goals and supports the Site Director in all facets of the program including maintenance, discipline and progress.
Required Background and Skills:
Valid Special Education certificate (Type 10 w/LBS)
Bachelor’s Degree with middle or high school teaching experience.
Strong motivational and communication skills and an adaptability to shifting priorities so that a positive learning environment is assured.
Ability to prioritize so that deadlines are met.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Clerical skills for typing and preparation of reports.
Experience with EBD students.
