Use your skills and experience at Summerfield Charter Academy, to educate students backed by a national network of stellar instructional coaches, results driven curriculum and a community of educators committed to tracking results and challenging each child to achieve.
New to the field or teaching for years, NHA can help you to develop as an educator and ensure that you are one of the best at driving instruction with consistency and attention to the needs of every child in your classroom. Simply put, NHA is all about helping you thrive as a teacher.
Each NHA school is a special part of the community it serves, and also part of a larger network of 76 schools nationwide. Below are some of the features that make Summerfield Charter Academy the place to continue your career in teaching:
• Student Impact: Summerfield Charter Academy is dedicated to preparing its students for higher education. We do this by instilling a strong moral code of conduct, establishing good work habits, assessing student knowledge, measuring performance and growth and providing individualized instruction. It is the combination of all the above activities that allow us to be successful in impacting student lives.
• School Leadership: At Summerfield Charter Academy, you will be supported by a cohesive administrative team. They avail themselves to provide teachers assistance with lesson plans, classroom management, professional development and instruction and this is done minimally on a weekly basis.
• School Culture: You do not work independently at Summerfield Charter Academy, but are part of a Special Education team that meets weekly to discuss lesson planning and ensure that the students are achieving their learning objectives. The school provides a safe and secure environment for the students and staff alike, thus creating a real community feel that parents are a part of on a daily basis.
The Exceptional Children /Special Education Teacher is responsible to work with students that experience emotional, learning, and physical disabilities and are eligible for special education programs and services as determined by an IEP committee. The teacher will prepare lesson plans, use data driven instruction to gauge student learning, maintain a welcoming, safe and attractive classroom environment, and establish high standards of student behavior. The Special Education Teacher will also identify students with special needs, organize student caseloads with an effective IEPC system, and establish and implement strategies to deal with disabilities. While working with these special education students, the Special Education Teacher may also work with At-Risk students within the general education population and in the general education classroom in conjunction with the support they are providing to students with special needs.
Teachers will be held accountable for the student achievement and growth in their classroom, establishing relationships with both students and parents, and participating in all aspects of class and school planning.
