As part of the Marketing & Sales team of the University Press of New England (UPNE), to coordinate the special sales and trade exhibits program for the Press, to assist in all sales functions for the Press.
Skills & Knowledge:
General computer proficiency and experience using Word. Ability to learn and use Filemaker, Photoshop, InDesign, and in-house sales system (CATS). An aptitude for learning other applications on the job as required. Ability to learn and apply other and new computer applications as needed. Self starter and ability to work independently and to prioritize work within strict deadlines. Detail oriented. Must manage multi-task work flow, and track and meet external deadlines in a timely fashion, and set priorities. An interest in scholarly and trade books, and in the publishing business. Good proofreading, writing, word processing, grammatical, and spelling skills. Ability to maintain professional communications on the phone and in letters and e-mail. Strong interpersonal skills. Familiarity with internet and efficiency in doing web-based research. Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as required. Ability and willingness to travel several times a year if necessary. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
Minimum of two years of publishing, bookselling, retail or related experience. Minimum two years working in a sales-focused environment
Bachelor's degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
