Interfaces with patients, insurance carriers, internal medical department personnel, external medical providers, and social service agencies by phone, mail, or in person regarding outstanding patient balances. Researches and resolves concerns related to billing, insurance or the patients ability to pay. Interfaces with patients and insurance carriers regarding concerns/complaints in order to promote timely and efficient reimbursement and patient satisfaction. Ensures customer concerns and issues are resolved in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with PNHS policies and procedures, as well as the Attorney General Agreement. Reviews and refers past due patient balances to our outside collection agency in accordance with PNHS policies and procedures, as well as the Attorney General Agreement. Education/Experience: High school diploma and at least two years related work experience. Prior Personal Computer experience preferred. At least 12 months of experience in a PNHS PFS position or comparable experience. Currently not in a performance development program. Demonstrated: Balances providing quality service with timely resolution to aging balances. Proficiency in processing accounts using PNHS & PFS policies & procedures. Consistent accuracy in processing accounts. Acceptable volume of output. Ability to work independently. Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses: Understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practices Acts and the Attorney General Agreement. General familiarity with bankruptcy laws. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to professionally respond in situations involving conflict and emotion. Self-motivation, problem resolution, and human relation skills. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and accounts receivable systems also required. Medical terminology and procedural/diagnostic coding knowledge helpful.
