The Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research Center – STAR (National Study Center) is seeking one Specialist, Marketing . The work location for this position will be located at the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) in Glen Burnie, MD. The selected candidate will be responsible for the management, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of a highway safety program.
The Marketing Specialist will implement the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office’s (MHSO) Online Community Strategy, managing engagement and interactivity with its target audience (18-34 year old males), and fostering community spirit. This role coordinates with all MHSO section teams to support their respective objectives, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and cultivating a strong community around MHSO’s various brands. This position will also serve as MHSO’s writer for both internal and external reports, projects, press releases, talking points and speeches.
Produces informational items such as brochures,direct mail and advertising to promote promote the Departments. Prepares written copy in the form of reports for federal, state and local agencies, talking points, general/thematic PowerPoint presentations and speeches.
Creates novel approaches to building business such as special events , services or incentives.
Generates proposals, contracts and other documents to secure business.
Provide feedback insights gained from community monitoring into the Marketing and Editioral teams.
Implement the on-line community strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across the MVA and MHSO to provide customer service and support to our communities with various communication tools. Moderate content according to the policy, working with the legal team when required.
Manage communities located in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outposts and monitor trends in online community tools and applications.
Ensure the community platforms are kept up to date and functional. Update highway safety program web content on MVA’s Highway Safety webpage to include events, mobilizations and campaigns.
Maintains a database or other records of clients, potential clients.
Performs other administrative duties having a significant impact on the overall goals of the function, program, and/or department as required.
· Bachelor's degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Business or Public Adminsitration, Public Relations, Writing or Health Sciences.
· Two years of related experience.
Equivalent combinaton of education and experience may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of best practices in the field. Knowledge of best practices in the field. Experience using social media outlets for organizations and monitoring social media "coverage".
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to include editing experience and strong ability to adapt writing style to wide variety of audiences and materials and meet deadlines.
Ability to conduct negotiations and gain agreement from interested parties.
Skill in PC applications with good technical understanding and able to pick up new tools quickly. In-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms and their respective particpants (Forums, Blogs, Uploads, Profiling, etc.) and how they can be deployed in difference scenarios.
