Description/Job Summary Payroll Specialist

Under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll, while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for Union and Non-Union employees
  • Verify data accuracy and assist with error resolution
  • Provide superior customer service for payroll by phone or email in a timely manner
  • Reconcile payroll results and perform audit checks as needed
  • Successfully process manual checks as well as Travel and Expense reimbursements
  • Process weekly/monthly union remittances
  • Process and maintain employee garnishments and Verifications of Employment
  • Prepare payroll funding for submission to Treasury Department
  • Administer the Transit Check commuter benefits process
  • Partner with HR team to ensure coordination of payroll information
  • Ad Hoc Reporting via ADP Reporter and Kronos Workforce Timekeeper systems
  • Special projects as assigned by the Payroll Supervisor

Required Skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent customer service and time management skills
  • People oriented with the ability to work both as part of a team and as an individual contributor
  • Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • ADP PayForce/Enterprise, ADP Reporter, and Kronos

Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years payroll/accounting experience
  • Previous multi-state and union payroll processing is necessary

Required Education
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
