Responsible for sourcing of spot buys and the adherence to existing contracts, pricing agreements and sourcing strategies. Develop and maintain positive customer and supplier relationships for all day-to-day activities. Perform and communicate procurement performance reporting on a regular basis.
Perform basic buying activities, cost analysis and monthly management reporting. Track and report buying and commodity performance. Create and implement sourcing strategies for specific commodities. Source products in accordance with procurement and sourcing strategies. Ensure compliance with customer SLA and that pricing is consistent with contracted and sourced pricing. Identify supplier diversity opportunities and monitor contract implementation and administration. Resolve customer issues and maintain good supplier relations. Understand procurement policies and procedures and ensure that they are followed.

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years experience buying or selling a key commodity required
Completion of Modules I and II towards Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) preferred.
Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) certification or Certified Professional in Supplier Management (CPSM) preferred
Ability to understand procurement contacting terms and draft contract and statement of work from BCBSM templates.
Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communications skills.
Practical knowledge of the buying process and sourcing terminology.
Proficient in procurement systems (Peoplesoft, Ariba applications) and current industry standard PC applications and systems.
Demonstrated basic negotiation skills relative to delivery requirements, price negotiations, return procedures and standard contractual terms and conditions.
