Here are the Current Job Opportunities Available with The Frederick News-Post: Sports Reporter-Part-Time - 4:00 pm to midnight You will be responsible for covering primarily local sports, including high schools, Hood College, Frederick Community College and the Frederick Keys; as well as be responsible for compiling the college notes column. There also will be intermittent page layout required. This is a part-time, 30 hours a week position. Normal working schedule is 4:00 pm to midnight, Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday; however the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays is required.

Bachelor s degree, preferably in writing, English, journalism or related fields is required. Knowledge of Quark/Indesign is preferred, but not required. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator s license and furnish current driving record with no more than two points for a period of two years, and a reasonably acceptable driving history with no suspensions. You will work closely with independent contract carriers within your district to ensure customer service objectives are met. Copy Editor/Page Designer Full-time - 3:00 PM - midnight The Frederick News-Post, an award winning, morning daily newspaper is seeking a copy editor/page designer for its nighttime copy desk. This person will be responsible for editing copy, writing headlines, and designing pages, including inside pages, feature pages and the front page. Will also develop information graphics and locator maps.

Must possess online skills to include writing brief dayparts, posting stories, videos and photos to the website and sending out e-alerts. We re looking for an individual who is a team player, has a positive attitude and can work with a collaborative spirit with others under daily deadline pressures. A Bachelors degree, preferably in Journalism, English, or related program, is required. Experience with QuarkExpress or InDesign is also required.

Proficiency with Adobe PhotoShop and Illustrator is highly desirable. This full-time position includes a comprehensive benefits package. This is a nighttime shift from 3 p.m. to midnight and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
