MetLife’s Direct Distribution team is looking for a highly motivated Senior Business Instructor who is passionate about empowering Tele-Sales Agents to reach their full potential. The Senior Business Instructor is responsible for thecreation and/or delivery of classroom based and/or virtual training for MetLife Direct Distribution Tele-Sales Agents in order to attain sales and customer satisfaction goals.
The ideal candidate is a business partner who is imbedded within the sales team and researches training gaps, designs training around those gaps and ensures that tele-sales agents have the ability to execute lessons learned in real time in order to meet or exceed productivity and quality goals. The Senior Business Instructor is recognized as the seasoned leader and held accountable for the preparation and maintenance of sales training materials, as well as the monitoring and coaching of tele-sales agents, floor supervisors, managers and other trainers and provides support for tele-sales agents, while meeting class completion deadlines and training module assessments.
This position is located in New York City or Bridgewater NJ and requires travel.
Builds critical relationships with internal clients or external partners.
Manages very complex or highly sensitive business instruction initiatives, which may be larger-scale within a line of business
Researches training gaps and obtains detailed training requirements from business line management.
Participates in interviewing management, associates and business subject matter experts to develop or revise instruction contents, computer-based training or job aid communications.
Provides recommendations on instruction programs and the development of new instructional aids.
Participates in meetings with business management to assess learning gaps; researches and develops and designs required curriculum.
Regularly consults with senior level management to define future developmental needs and affirm that program, materials and communications are effective in term of quality and production goals.
Has developed ability to facilitate training sessions in difficult situations by applying concepts of instructional design and adult learning methods.
Utilize instructional methodology and technologies to deliver instruction to different audiences.
Independently manages a complex sales instruction project from initial stages of learning gap assessment to final instruction and delivery and participant evaluation.
Initiates meetings with internal and external partner directors, manager and supervisors on needs analysis for future development.
Partners with business management to identify inconsistencies within business areas and initiates best practices/pilot programs for new solutions.
Leads the process for needs analysis/pilot programs with business partners to develop strategic recommendations to address future developmental needs.
Prepares reports and metrics to management on effectiveness of training.
Evaluates, measures and reports out on the progress of participants; monitors effectiveness of instructional programs and materials.
Supervises other trainers or coordinators as needed/assigned
Other duties may also include the following:
Requires overnight travel of up to 50% of time.
Design and develop comprehensive curriculum, training programs and instructional materials, including instructor-led programs (group) or individual training.
Research and evaluate detailed training requirements from business customers. Develop metrics to assess effectiveness of instruction, and monitor work on an on-going basis to ensure that training is effective.
Develop and maintain procedure manuals or databases to reinforce training or to provide future assistance. Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal training with formal background in instructional design, teaching, training or facilitation skills.
Typically has 3-5 years of experience in call center sales and/or training.
Strong presentation and written communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of adult learning principles.
Some knowledge of Life Insurance industry and products
Broad familiarity with training technology including hardware, software applications internet and intranet.
