Position Summary
SUMMARY and PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position supports the OhioHealth strategic imperative of translating key aspects of the OhioHealth system marketing and communications strategies into graphic designs and visual images that achieve OhioHealth system growth and brand awareness goals. S/he is accountable for creating consistently branded, visually appealing graphic design concepts and illustrations that effectively communicate with intended audiences, grow market share, clinical volume and customer loyalty for OhioHealth’s physicians, inpatient and outpatient services.
The Graphic Designer will create high-impact designs intended to engage, attract and sell. Develops or acquires the images used in a wide variety of creative projects, including advertisements, brochures, direct mail, corporate identity, presentations, websites, promotional displays and signage. Also responsible for the design, layout and formatting of materials. Must have a strong sense of concept development, in addition to communication, research, problem–solving and presentation skills.
The Graphic Designer will partner with other team members in the Marketing & Communications division to plan, analyze, and create visual solutions for communications opportunities. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Brand and Creative Services team to create the most effective way to get messages across in print and electronic media using color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques. The Graphic Designer will work on projects covering multiple service lines and care sites across the system.

Ability to implement effective design tactics in a fast-paced, complex organization is essential. Ability to prioritize work ensuring multiple project deadlines are met. Must be able to establish and maintain relationships, demonstrate initiative, exude a professional presence, focus on results and demonstrate enthusiasm. This position requires a well-organized professional who is known for integrity, flexibility and energy.

This position effectively manages resources including timelines, freelancers, creative files, project resources and budgets. The Graphic Designer is expected to develop expertise in the healthcare industry as well as continually upgrading their skills and knowledge base relative to artistic design concepts, principles and practices and stay abreast of emergent art and graphics industry techniques, trends and technologies.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Visual Communications or related field and 5 years of experience

Specialized Knowledge:
Expertise in corporate brand identity systems and environmental graphics
Use of Macintosh computer systems for graphic design purposes.
Superb interpersonal working relationships and negotiation skills.
Effective working style under deadline pressure.
Critical thinking ability and attention to detail.
Effective, tactful communication with clients and efficient use of their time (clients include marketing managers, organizational managers and staff)
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to take initiative to offer ideas and suggestions proactively.
Ability to seek information needed to solve problems and determine solutions.
Ability and willingness to work under pressure; meet strict timelines and budgets, and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Kind and Length of Experience:
Five years experience as a graphic designer in a corporate studio or agency with portfolio samples required. May have basic drawing skills combined with knowledge of design programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, FreeHand and Dreamweaver. Requires strong technical skills, and artistic and conceptual–thinking abilities.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Credentials, Licenses: Web design and/or time-based media design experience preferred. Agency or corporate experience desired.

Specialized Knowledge:
Experience in a physician practice, hospital or other healthcare environment.
Experience in advertising/marketing agencies.
