The Montgomery County Police Department seeks a highly skilled and experienced administrator (DBA) of the SQL Server databases, and SQL Server networking infrastructures. The employee will assist with data operations, recovery, IIS, and security for network servers and SQL Server databases; develop logical and physical table designs and conduct SQL engineering through consultation, design and code reviews; perform activities related to the promotion and migrations of software and associated components through the pre-production to production instances (including certified testing methods); provide guidance and training to staff and end users in SQL, DDL (data definition language), and other database related issues; d
evelop new and support existing database reporting applications utilizing SQL, PL/SQL
maintain database administration processes and documentation
utilizing Crystal Reporting tools and i
nitiate continuous improvement within the Department; and maintain the integrity of the database environments. This position will also be responsible for supporting other functions such as: technical support and development of information and technology, which includes maintenance and support of LAN and WAN operations, wireless communications, Microsoft Outlook, Access, and Windows 7 desktop operating systems providing superior customer service.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with 5 or more years of hands on IT experience and an understanding of law enforcement data systems.

Five years of experience as an administrator (DBA) of the SQL Server databases and SQL Server network infrastructures.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university, or certifications in specific programming languages or operating systems may be required, depending on the duties of the position. Programming languages might include Visual C++, Visual J++, C++, C, SQL, PowerBuilder, Oracle Developer 2000, Cobol.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. For applicants possessing very hard-to-find skills which are a critical need to the department/agency, training and certification may be accepted in lieu of full degree requirements.

5. Experience using and applying principles/concepts/techniques of strategic and supported technologies under minimal direction.
