Establish ongoing professional relationships with commercial and government payers and Health Technology Assessment (HTAs) groups to provide comprehensive medical and scientific education and health outcomes research solutions that improve patient care within a cost conscious healthcare environment.
This is a front line field position, critical to establishing and maintaining excellent educational and research collaborations with key managed market decision makers and health technology assessment agencies to build outstanding product awareness and advocacy. Communicate new trends and feedback on the market environment to external/internal customers.
Establish and foster relationships with commercial and government payers and Health Technology Assessment (HTAs) agencies with the end goal of building advocacy leading to a strong franchise. Serves as a credible and knowledgeable medical resource for accurate and updated scientific, clinical and health economics and outcomes information between payers and health technology assessment groups. Assures that scientific and product information is current, relevant and readily available, in accordance with the company guidelines
Assists with development and coordination of Payer Initiated Trials and Biogen Idec sponsored Comparative Effectiveness and Outcomes Research (CEOR). The MOSL may be involved with communication & coordination functions and in providing clinical protocol expertise to Investigators involved in clinical research from phase II forward.
Engage in meaningful scientific discussions about all Biogen Idec products, the disease states, our products in development as well as the clinical and health outcomes data available.
Understand how the impact of disease and their treatments impact a patient population and their reported outcomes
Knowledge of health economics and ability to communicate cost effectiveness and budget impact models to the managed care community
Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or similar healthcare practice experience with a managed market/outcomes focus. Experience in the field of neurology, hematology or immunology preferred. Able to work independently in field location (with 50% travel). Knowledgeable in managed care, regulatory, commercial and clinical issues affecting the pharmaceutical and managed market industry. Demonstrated strength in understanding and effectively communicating scientific and medical information as it relates to managed markets customers. Continually expand and build clinical knowledge/skills through leveraging internal/external resources. Excellent communication and formal presentation skills, organizational skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Demonstrated business acumen, relationship building and cross functional teamwork skills.
Prefer advanced scientific or clinical degree (Pharm.D, Ph.D., MD, Fellowhip in HEOR, Health Economist).
