Job Summary

The Solution Architect (SA) is a senior level position that leverages data warehouse technical knowledge to promote sales and delivery of Teradata data warehouse solutions. The SA has broad knowledge of the data warehouse space with expert knowledge of Teradata products, AsterData SQL - MapReduce Platforms, Hadoop and Business Applications. The SA articulates data warehouse architectures and trends, and provides technical consulting to support sales and Professional Services (PS) activities. The SA establishes or enhances mid-level customer relationships, provides technical expertise on engagements and identifies new target application opportunities within our accounts. The SA will be expected to deliver high-quality, customer billable consulting on PS engagements and oversee the development of the customer engagement model for additional services. In addition, the SA plays an active role in pre-sale and post-sale activity, ensuring a long-term partnership with Teradata customers.

Key Responsibilities

Leads and drives architectural direction setting on client projects

Provides Teradata data warehouse thought leadership and forward planning

Is certified in Teradata, preferably a Masters certification

Has broad range of skills and understanding of ETL tools and ETL techniques, TD database reference architecture and BI tools and BI techniques.

Other leadership and planning activities

Participates in the development and execution of winning sales strategies.

Assists with account qualification utilizing knowledge of industry solutions, data models & data volumes for the various types of financial accounts and applying this knowledge to determine applicability of Teradata’s offerings.

Understands, documents and articulates the customer’s current data warehouse/data mart architecture. This includes a complete inventory of the customer’s data warehouses and datamarts as well as their respective business functions.

Understands competitive products such as Oracle, IBM, Netezza, HP, etc

Understands mainframe and client/server computing environments.

Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of business problems of Retail customers.

Articulates Teradata’s solutions to the business problems mentioned above using Teradata RDBMS, Teradata Financial Management, Teradata Master Data Management, Teradata CRM, Data Mart consolidation, Active Data Warehouse, Dual Active AsterData SQL - MapReduce platforms, Hadoop and Big Data solutions and and other related solution offerings.

Being a trusted advisor to the customer's decision-makers by establishing credibility and expertise in data warehouse technology/architecture, marketing analysis and automation systems, big data solutions, customer profitability solutions, and other areas related to Teradata's solution offerings.Identifies new application opportunities that will lead to additional data being added to the customer’s data warehouse as well as high margin PS engagements.

Generates interest with the decision-makers that leads to follow-on meetings and advancement of the sales process.

Contributes to the financial objectives of the team through business development and demand-creation activities.

Demonstrates ability to relate business problems to the underlying data and the ability of Data Warehouse technology to solve the business problems.

Designs, leads and executes winning competitive database benchmarks.

Participates in PS engagements that position Teradata as a trusted adviser to our customers.

Timely, accurate administration & reporting (PSA, expenses, forecasts, etc.)

Contributes Knowledge Assets to the Teradata Knowledge Management System.

Work Environment

The Solution Architect will work from a virtual (home) office, some travel is required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Five years or more of operational or technical RDBMS in data warehouse implementation

Client interface and consulting skills required

Proven capabilities in relationship database technology in the application development environment (Teradata, DB2, Oracle, Informix) and operational knowledge of third party GUI and data transformation tools (COGNOS, Business Objects, Informatica and others)

Solid understanding of current data warehousing topics

BA or BS in Business or Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working with Teradata solutions

Teradata Master certification
