A Senior Principal Packaging Engineer champions technology breakthroughs and leads major cross functional project teams. This position will be the primary technical strategist for several business platforms and act as a technical mentor for all engineers in packaging. Maintain excellent awareness of technical trends and developments in the packaging industry
Mentor to all packaging engineers
Bachelors in Packaging, Engineering (i.e., ME, ChmE, etc) or related field with a minimum of 15 years relevant work experience in packaging industry, CPG preferred
Masters / PhD in Packaging, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 13 years relevant work experience in packaging industry, CPG preferred
Excellent understanding of packaging materials capabilities and equipment
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and logical problem solving abilities
Advanced understanding of business principles
Thorough understanding of food science and how product and processing affect packaging preferred but not required.
Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitary design, and equipment cleaning preferred but not required.
Thorough understanding of physical and structure package testing procedures.
Financial understanding to optimize profitability.
Teambuilding skills that focus on mentoring and coaching.
Good negotiating skills when working through conflict resolution.
Ability to pursue exclusivity patents.
Able to analyze all aspects of new package systems.
Experience with government regulatory requirements in the processing of food preferred but not required
Freedom to travel domestically and internationally on ConAgra business.
Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended work days to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.
Ability to travel 20-25% on average, up to 50% at times
Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs
