The Release Project Manager will work closely with Project and Program Managers, QA and Engineering to manage the complex dependencies between projects within each release. Projects cross several releases and have significant systems integration, and the Release Project Managers will slice them vertically by pre-scheduled releases.
The Release Project Manager will also manage highly complex systems integration projects based on availability, so a strong Project/Program Management experience is critical.
: Manage technical dependencies between projects that are scheduled within each release, both ones that are in development/test, and ones that are slated for release
: Work with QA and Development to ensure that environments are correctly aligned, and runways are available for integrated testing
: Own the risks and issues, and drive mitigation plans associated with each release from a timeline, quality, or dependency perspective
: Assess impacts to cross functional teams and the business owners in case of issues or delays
: Ensure that all activities needed for deployment are completed
: Communicate status and announcements on which projects and enhancements are going out
: Drive products out to market by working with business process owners (operations, sales, customer support, training, ad products and marketing)
: Strong technical project management experience, especially in complex, multi-systems integration environments
: Strong release management experience, with focus on dependencies
: Knowledge of environment alignment and builds
: Proven history of risk management and driving mitigation plans
: Understanding of various SDLC approaches, including waterfall and iterative
: Excellent communication skills - comfortable before senior leadership as well as engineers and business owners
: Ability to assess risks and issues, material impact to projects in each release, and develop mitigation plans
: History of working closely with QA and technical operations
: Ability to work closely with non-technical business teams for product releases
: Flexibility and adaptability depending on situation
: Able to think quickly on their feet when escalation issues arise
: Minimum 5 - 7 years of technical project management experience, working with complex, cross functional system integrations
: 2 - 3 years specifically in release management, with a focus on managing dependencies (not deployment)
: Understanding of the digital advertising industry, including the various products and advertiser value
: Experience with back end business systems related to CRM, fulfillment, billing, and sales systems
