As a senior/staff scientist on Illumina’s Advanced Research Team, you will play an integral role in developing nucleic acid assays and technologies. Primary responsibilities will include development of new assay technologies, integration of assays with nanosensors, planning/execution of experiments, and analysis of complex data sets.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
•Develop innovative assays for nucleic acid analysis coupled with nanosensing platforms
•Creatively solve complex project challenges and technical issues
•Design effective experiments to efficiently move projects forward
•Analyze results in the context of complex data sets
•Deliver results in a fast-paced environment with a mind toward commercialization of technology
•Assist with analysis and training for group members in manipulating large data sets
•Keep detailed records and prepare summaries and updates for managers and teams as directed
•Engage in collaborative research and work productively within and across groups
Education and Experience:
•Ph.D. in molecular biology, biophysics, biological chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related science with 5-7 years experience in industry
.Experienced in molecular biology and analytical chemistry laboratory methods for nucleic acid analysis including purification, amplification, labeling, hybridization, chromatography, etc.
•Thorough understanding of nucleic acid enzymology, particularly polymerases and related proteins.
•Experience in integration of biochemical assays with biosensors a plus
•Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, problem solver, self-starter, self-motivated, independent but can work well in a cross-functional team
•Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize activities
•Skilled in analysis of large and complex data sets
•R/Matlab scripting a plus
•Excellent verbal/written communication skills
