The Payroll Specialist researches and resolves team member payroll inquiries and pay adjustments escalated from the Help Desk. Serves as primary backup for the Payroll Manager.
Purpose of Role:
Contributes to a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring accuracy of team member payroll and provides timely responses and resolutions.
Performs research on payroll inquiries and pay adjustments routed from the Help Desk. Contacts team members directly and completes problem resolution on payroll inquiries which require access to the payroll system.
Able to independently resolve most of the payroll issues related to standard processes
Acts as a functional expert by handling escalated issues on complex/unusual payroll transactions
Reviews and validates restaurant payroll files for completeness and prepares for import by the Payroll Manager.
Serves as a subject matter expert on a functional area, working with IT to develop specifications for new/modified processes or reports within area of functional expertise
Facilitates payroll transactional processing policies (e.g., timely manager approvals)
Handles problem resolution and coordination of tasks with external payroll vendors per direction from the Payroll Manager
Performs secondary quality review where applicable (e.g., new hire tax information)
Prepares various payroll related filings as requested by the Payroll Manager
Performs other responsibilities as needed (e.g., routes incoming payroll mail to final destination)

Skills and Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- 4-6 years experience in payroll and/or benefits preferred
- Ultimate payroll system experience preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, including: Excel, Outlook, Word
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Strong organizational skills
