Position Description

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will assure materials supplied for MPSS products are of high quality and reliability. Responsibilities include communicating and leading technical objectives between MPSS and material suppliers. This includes leading activities such as: supplier qualification, supplier development, facilitating improvements, material evaluation and qualification/validation, disposition of non-conforming material/corrective action, support of commodity and new product development teams. The Sr. SQE helps set strategic direction for the quality organization and is responsible for designing and implementing methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating purchased material. The Sr. SQE applies statistical methods to assess conformity of materials and analyzes quality indicators from suppliers for use in business decisions.
Position Responsibilities

Develop technical solutions to problems using the corrective/preventative action process including reviewing and resolving Material Review Board (MRB) issues.
Proactively identify Supplier quality issues, their causes and viable solutions. Effectively and collaboratively implement corrective actions to reduce and/or eliminate future occurrence.
Investigate and report corrective action effectiveness and timeliness.
Support product continuation by assuring the quality of the components used in manufacturing, and working supplier/component quality related issues to resolution.
Manage supplier risks to prevent acceptance of sub-standard products.
Implement supplier process controls and auditing strategies.
Review and approve changes to purchased materials used in production.
Ensure compliance of suppliers through leading and participating in supplier audits.
Develop qualification/validation plans and reports to assure components, materials and suppliers meet specified requirements and performance goals.
Communicate and facilitate technical objectives between MPSS and supplier.
Develop and maintain inspection procedures for components and materials to support receiving inspection.
Support and/or lead teams that develop new materials or implement significant material processing or supply chain changes.
Lead component and process FMEA’s and Risk Assessments at suppliers.
Participate and/or lead supplier improvement programs.
Prepare and report supplier performance metrics.
Performs all other non-routine tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
Wears personal protective equipment as required.
Ensures all activities are in compliance with Quality System requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ensure all activities are in compliance with the Medtronic Code of Conduct and all Quality System Requirements.
Basic Qualifications

B.S. Engineering degree or Science (Life Sciences, Physics, ME, EE, Industrial Technology, etc.)
5-8 years related experience.
Strong analytical skills required.
Good working knowledge of statistics.
Good written communication skills.
Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally
Must be able to multi-task.
Working knowledge of appropriate industry standards.
Experience in application statistical methods to design reliability and process capability.
Able to travel to suppliers (air and ground travel)
Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Medical Device experience.
ASQ-CQE, CQA, CBA or equivalent.
Masters degree with 3-6 years experience
