Departmental Summary:
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is currently seeking a Technology Specialist for our downtown / Lafayette facility. Sr. Technology Specialist will possess hands-on experience in WAS, Apache, Reverse Proxy, SSO and Federation, Authentication and Authorization, Portal and Web Content delivery, LDAP, Identity management with a strong ability to learn. The ideal candidate will also couple this experience with a strong educational background and technical industry certifications. Local candidates with min 5 - 7 years overall experience are preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Enterprise architecture, new technology implementation, research and evaluation of emerging technologies, strategic technology planning, consulting, software validation, e-business support.

Working independently within guidelines, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates specific new and emerging technologies, platforms and services.

Plays a key role in the assessment of technical viability of new products and technologies.

Investigates technological alternatives and recommends direction.

Participates in developing business cases and obtaining approvals for capital expenditures for technological advances and improvements.

Analyzes proposed and actual projects in terms of feasibility, approach and adherence to technical specifications and direction and environmental requirements.

Other duties may be assigned.

Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures that web and middleware infrastructure is installed, configured and maintained correctly.

Determines, sets-up, and monitors web and middleware components for environment based on organization's architectural needs.

Implements user access roles, application authentication, and SSO user identity federation.

Determines system enhancements and tuning that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.

Investigates new developments and makes recommendations on additions or replacements.

Interfaces with the appropriate architecture groups to ensure that a unified direction is in place and is being followed.

Define requirements, provide estimation, tracking and reporting progress to internal/external customers including but not limited to project/program managers, and web application development team.

Participate in security audit mitigation and safeguard against security risk exposure.

Coordinate and track report on migrations to new technologies in support of infrastructure and server lifecycle

Conduct impact analysis of upgrades, outages, migrations, etc

Define and continuously improve and promote Web Engineering standards and procedures

Investigates new developments and makes recommendations on additions or replacements.

Perform vendor and product comparisons

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Extensive creativity required across areas of expertise.

A high proficiency level in specific job related skills is required.

Departmental Requirements:
Min 5 years experience implementing in the following technologies: Reverse Proxy, SSO and Federation, SAML, Authentication and Authorization, Portal and Web Content delivery, LDAP, Identity management

Min 5 years experience implementing web based projects and infrastructure upgrades in a highly available 24x7 environment, across multiple platforms and technologies.

Min 5 years experience working with non-technical stakeholders to satisfy requirements with high customers’ satisfaction

Proven record of successful infrastructure upgrades and roll-outs.

Expert knowledge with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Min 5 years experience with implementing and improving processes

Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
Experience working in Solaris, RHEL, and AIX platform environments Preferred

Experience with (SUN/Oracle Java Enterprise Suite) Preferred.

Experience working with java technologies and web services, including programming and debugging preferred

Certification in Identity management and/or federation technologies preferred

Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.

Master’s Degree in related field preferred.

Minimum five (5) years related experience preferred.

Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Extensive creativity required across areas of expertise.

A high proficiency level in specific job related skills is required.

Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
